Why we call it autism truths…

Hypothesis, Theory, Fact and Truth (nouns):

On the surface all nouns appear to be variations of the same common idea. When examined with a closer lens, their meanings differentiate greatly.

Hypothesis (noun): 1. An assumption or concession made for the sake of argument; an interpretation of a practical situation or condition taken as the ground for action 2.A tentative assumption made in order to draw out and test its logical or empirical consequences 3. The antecedent clause of a conditional statement

Theory (noun): 1. The analysis of a set of facts in their relation to one another 2. Abstract thought; speculation 3. The general or abstract principles of a body or fact, a science or an art 4. A brief policy, or procedure proposed or followed as the basis of action; an ideal or hypothetical set of facts, principles or circumstances – often used in the phrase “in theory” 5. A plausible or scientifically acceptable general principle or body of principles offered to explain phenomena 6. A hypothesis assumed for the sake of argument or investigation; an unproved assumption; a body of theorems presenting a concise systematic view of a subject

Fact (noun): 1. A thing done 2. The quality of being actual: actuality 3. a. Something that has actual existence, b. An actual occurrence 4. A piece of information presented as having objective reality

Truth (noun): 1. Sincerity in action, character and utterance 2. The state of being the case; the body of real things, events and facts 3. (often capitalized) A transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality; a judgment or proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as true 4. The body of true statements and propositions 5. The property (as of a statement) of being in accord with fact or reality; fidelity to an original or to a standard
