What: Meet social workers, doctors, and parents of children on the spectrum! Share ideas and resources. Learn from each other. Advocate for your child and help him/her receive the medical and educational services he/she needs

March 14, 2011:  Managing Sexuality in Adolescents with Autism

A Lecture with Dr. Jenny Tuzikow of OPWDD

This lecture will help you:

• Learn about how sexuality affects and challenges individuals with autism

• Solve common problem areas such as social and communication deficits that make those with autism behave in ways that may offend others or put themselves at risk

• Understand ways to address puberty & emerging sexuality amongst those with autism

What: "Show and Tell: Using Visual Strategies to Help Your Child Understand, Listen and Follow Directions", presented by the organization Ramapo for Children
When: Tuesday, February 15th from 10:00am - 1:00pm (Light refreshments will be served)
Where: Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, Milstein Building, 6th Floor (1650 Selwyn Avenue, Bronx, NY 10457)
Why: Whether your child is verbal or nonverbal, visuals improve communication and behavior. Parents and caregivers will learn all about how to create simple visual supports that they can use to communicate with their child
